From the 17th minute mark :
out of the crop here on this one what is
it about her that you feel like polls are out in front in your mind great question a lot of people ask that and a couple of things she's the only one i'm using the word accomplished carefully they're all accomplished she's the only one of the group that was accomplished in business before going into politics some people may not be aware that she founded her own law firm ran that for 17 years successfully before going into politics and in terms of toughness if you wonder if anybody's tough if you have to get up and go to work every day with a big law firm full of lawyers uh you know what you get tough over time but she did that very successfully she's the most educated and i'm not saying that education alone is what counts but she has a bachelor's degree she's got a a degree in environmental science so her approaches to green energy and some some very uh interesting thought there along with also integrating the oil and gas industry uh it carries extra weight when you've got a degree in that and the fact that she's got a degree in business and then a doctor's in law she has taught law she's been an instructor at the top law schools in the country uh she just brings a whole lot to the table a lot of this she accomplished so you know she's got tremendous tremendous attributes and experience and i ask people to picture in their minds picture the debate stage that's going to happen sooner or later when we get into a federal election picture justin trudeau up there and now put a face beside his of all the candidates who do you think is gonna grab the attention of people when they see uh prime minister face to face against you know one of the other uh men or against leslie lewis and i think she's going to really attract attention if people haven't already done so she's also willing to touch the issues that some people won't touch parental rights for instance which are being eroded she's willing to speak on that she's willing to speak intelligently on the fact that we should not be bringing um oil into canada from countries which are not democratic which have terrible human rights records she's speaking very clearly on that so she's got a broad range of issues and proven experience that i just think gives her the edge over the other other good candidates but it definitely gives her yeah and we have so much respect for her and and the other candidates as well i think anyone who puts their name forward deserves the utmost of respect from canadians it is such a grueling grueling feat um but you know you've worked with pierre and when i'm talking with people a lot of times they're saying listen we just want to see the person at the helm of the conservative party that has the highest chance of actually winning in the next general election we know that quebec has 78 ridings in a general election ontario has 121. if you roll in all the urban centers let's say vancouver edmonton calgary regina winnipeg you know i'm i've never actually calculated this but i'm guesstimating that the urban centers were probably pushing 170 to 200 ridings has the epicenter of political power started to shift from quebec being the the ethnic vote being the king maker and do you think that could be that could be a real factor like could pierre actually win the ethnic vote has that factored into your your thought well it's key there's no question you cannot dismiss it at all and as we've um you know patrick brown talks about the ethnic boat the importance of that and i met with a number of his supporters at the edmonton debate actually a lot of former friends of mine um you know still friends of mine in the sikh community who are supporting him we had a great time because we remembered great things we did way back so um there are strengths that people realize if you tap into let's face it the ethnic community so called is really becoming mainstream in canada it's not even seen as you know keep using the word minority but it's not even really seen as that and they traditionally most not all but they embrace small c conservative values the the importance of enterprise small they really support what our small c conservative values so patrick realizes that pierre realizes that for sure i think they all do to a degree and this is why i i just because i'm supporting her i don't want to keep going back to this but this is why lester lewis for instance in the gta some of the meetings she had in the gta it was almost entirely ethnic supports large meetings people were energetic they were fired up she does let's face it she brings something you know having come to canada as in as an immigrant with her family and as as a young girl she knows what new immigrants go through she has seen her own in her own family some of the had her mother telling her listen there's nothing you can't do don't let anybody tell you that you can't so she really taps into that yeah it's going to be a fascinating race here as let me ask you this mr day what matters most in this leadership race is it somebody who can unify is it somebody who can stand up against some of the international pressures that have so blatantly encroached upon our nation whether that's the who um is it somebody that that cares about not just the fiscal issues but the social as well like in your mind what matters most in a leadership candidate it's a good blend of the very items you've just mentioned it's got to be i believe first of all who will stand up for their constituents and she's proven that she's willing to do that her approach to parental rights that parental rights should not be eroded that you should be able to speak to your kids freely and lovingly and openly about any issue whether it's gender or whether it's education or whatever it might be so she's she has not been shy about those but she's also had some considerable effect on the international with national rights or canadian rights she was one of the leaders in pushing back against the who who were trying to force a treaty that many saw as national sovereignty related to the pandemic uh each nation should we should always look at how we can work with other countries in a cooperative way but when you give up your sovereignty when you say okay we will do whatever the who then you're putting your own national sovereignty at risk she got a national movement going on that and as you know a lot of the issues the items that wha wanted to impose upon canada and other countries were pulled back because of the efforts to stand up against that related to tax issues she's been very strong she's very knowledgeable so she brings a really solid mix at the international level proving herself not afraid to stand up even with controversial issues to sometimes a an upset national media and also the knowledge the way strategically to operate to get things done she's already well i think it'd be great to have you back and maybe have somebody from the caucus that's supporting pierre somebody that's supporting charade and a couple of the others and maybe chop it up a little bit more as we get closer to ballot day i don't know if you'd be interested in that or not but i think that'd be a fascinating conversation um as we begin to close mr day um can i ask this question for canadians out there it's you know it has been such a defining season i know we're going to look back at this moment this era in our national history and say wow that's a moment to study you know so much shifted so much change it was such a defining window of time as we close what would be your words of or wisdom for our viewers in this what feels like such a treacherous season for i would say to be unswerving and never back off of demanding your right to be heard we live in a time and an era where does not correspond with whatever the federal government is or whatever the you are dismissed it used to be you could at least get a debate but now you are dismissed if your view does not comply in canada at least with the liberal socialist alliance you're called a conspirator you're called misogynist it is so unhealthy and so heartbreaking to see true debate being dismissed so i would say whatever party you are with we must demand the right of people to be able to express their view at the end of the day there'll be a vote but you know in a democracy as i say you might not not always get your way but you should always be able to have your say and people of all parties should stand very strongly on that well put well put thank you for those words of wisdom and to all of our viewers let's continue to lock in in prayer for our prime minister for the liberal caucus for jug meets sing as he is the power broker here possibly for the next uh three years let's continue to pray for this conservative leadership race and let's continue to do all the things that mr day spoke about today emailing our members of parliament staying steady
